F&F Developer - Smart Home Web App
Client:
F&Home
Timeframe:

Overview
The F&F Developer web application serves as a pivotal tool primarily for smart home solution installers. This project, designed for the same company developing the FOX app, aims to streamline the management of smart home devices and settings
My Role
As a UX/UI designer, my responsibility was to create an interface that is both intuitive and easy to navigate while meeting all the business requirements. This involved designing clear processes for navigating the application and simplifying the device setup process to ensure ease of use.
Challenges
The main challenge was the complexity of managing multiple channels within a single device, the devices themselves, and gateways that group several devices. This complexity made the design process particularly challenging.
Design Process Overview
Understanding Requirements : The first step was to fully understand the functionality requirements. When clarity was lacking, I organized workshops with the client to address any uncertainties and gain a comprehensive understanding of their needs.
Research and Information Architecture : After gathering insights from the research and benchmarking phase, I began constructing a simple information architecture for each device functionality. This helped illustrate the necessary steps a user must take to achieve their desired outcome.
Example: Process of designing – Web App Dashboard.Â
UX Phase :Iterative design proved to be an effective method for this project, allowing for ongoing testing and consultations with stackholders to modify processes based on feedback from the users. This approach facilitated the achievement of optimal solutions, taking into account potential limitations communicated by the developers.
UI phase :After establishing the optimal user flow and demonstrating it through low-fidelity mockups, which were then accepted by the business, I transitioned to the UI design phase.
Lessons Learned
- Complex Application Design: I learned how to design a web application with intricate processes, making them user-friendly while meeting all product manager criteria.
- Design Under Pressure: The project’s tight timeline taught me to make effective design decisions under pressure, as the product needed to be launched swiftly.
Conclusion
This project differed from most I have worked on, providing me with the opportunity to develop skills in areas I had not previously explored. It was a comprehensive learning experience in designing for complex systems, pushing me to innovate in user experience and interface design under tight deadlines
